This week in the Hippo class has been all about mini beasts. Inspired by the rainy weather and being able to get out more the little hippos have been fascinated with the worms we found in the playground as well as all the snails that keep coming out in the rain. Student’s interests guide the learning that takes place, this way the activities are fun and engaging for the students.
This week we learned about caterpillars and butterflies and also read the book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. Reading stories plays a vital role in the growth and development of children. It boosts speaking and listening skills and also encourages them to learn more. The students enjoyed listening to the story and feeding the caterpillar with the correct food. They also did some hands on activities to reinforce the story and practice their fine motor skills.
