In order to ensure that the Wells curriculum sufficiently prepares students for the rigors of studies at top-tier universities, high school students benefit from intensive, independent programs that measure their performances in comparison to students around the globe. From the teaching of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) SAT Reasoning Test (SAT), and Preliminary SAT (PSAT) exam, to the offering of on-site Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) courses taught by trained AP instructors, Wells International School ensures that it meets only the highest standards in its academic structure. Through taking on Advanced Placement courses, job shadows, and prestigious internships and placements at institutions such as Mahidol University and the John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, they are even able to gain university credit at world-class educational institutions around the globe and gain an edge in the competitive world of university admissions. The Advanced Placement (AP) Program

Originating in a joint education study conducted by three college preparatory schools and three Ivy League universities—Harvard, Princeton and Yale—the AP program is collection of independent courses that are more challenging and intensive than standard high school classes. It offers students:

  • Experience in taking university-level courses while still in high school
  • Flexibility in selecting particular courses or pursuing the AP International Diploma
  • University credit upon successful completion of AP exams
  • Small class sizes with independent guidance from instructors
  • Increased chances of being accepted to top universities in the U.S. and abroad

The IB Diploma Programme (DP)

As described by the IB, the “Diploma Programme (DP) is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students. The programme, has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities.” In short, it offers students in grade 11 and 12 a rigorous curriculum that fosters critical thinking and real-life skills that can be carried forward into university-level studies. Unlike most schools in Thailand, Wells offers the DP as an optional honors program.

The SAT & TOEFL

Widely used by universities in the United States, Thailand and many other countries, the SAT Reasoning Test and Test of English as a Foreign Language are often required for entrance into those institutions. Wells International School is a College Board-licensed test center for the SAT (Test Center #71114), and . EverClever Language Center, a sister company of the Wells system, offers intensive 64-hour and 120-hour TOEFL prep courses designed by a veteran with over a decade of experience in the design and administration of the exam.
