Primary School Curriculum
The Primary School at Wells On Nut Campus includes grades one to five. The curriculum of the Primary School has been designed and refined over many years using the best current knowledge in education regarding how children learn and develop. Learning is the heart of the Wells curriculum. Ours is a skills-based, inquiry-oriented curriculum that addresses the developmental needs of the whole child: intellectual, emotional, social, behavioral, and physical. By focusing on fundamental literacy skills as outlined by the US Common Core Standards, and by integrating these skills into thematic units of inquiry where students explore topics in science and social studies, Wells teachers create learning experiences that are interesting, engaging, and effective. Our teachers blend together a variety of instructional strategies that address the unique learning needs of each child, while also creating learning environments that students enjoy. The mathematics curriculum in the Wells Primary also follows the US Common Core Standards, using up-to-date materials and instructional methods so students don’t just learn mathematical procedures, but more importantly they learn mathematical concepts. As personal development and success is determined by much more than just academic knowledge, the Primary School also implements behavioral guidelines called the “Habits for Success,” which highlight for students the types of behaviors and attitudes they need to develop to become happy, healthy, and successful individuals. Finally, along with the core curriculum components of literacy and mathematics, students enjoy specialist classes in Thai or Chinese language, physical education, performing and visual arts, computer technology, and Thai culture.
