Wells Grants 3,000,000 baht in Scholarships

Now an annual tradition, on December 13th secondary students from Grades 6 to 12 received recognition for excellence in sports, academics, community service and the arts through the conferment of 3,000,000 baht in partial and full scholarships. The record amount reflected an extraordinary semester that witnessed award after award for the school, including national championships in the EU Thailand National Intervarsity Debate Championship and Asia Books Readers’ Theatre, five TISAC championship titles, three BISAC volleyball tournament titles, and an individual world championship at the World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions, held at Yale University in the United States.

With so many accomplishments on the part of the Wells students, a total of 55 received recognition for academic excellence, of which 41 received scholarships. Additionally, the Seahawk sports players selected “Most Valuable Player” (MVP) recipients from their respective teams, and two overall MVPs chosen from all teams each received 15,000 baht scholarships and 15,000 baht subsidies for summer sports programs.

Wells awards scholarships in two tiers. Recipients of the Seahawk Scholar Award receive a total of 50,000 baht spread over two semesters. Wells Super Scholar Awards grant the recipients a total of 80,000 baht over that same period. For the first time, three seniors also received full tuition waivers for their exceptional contributions to the school community throughout their high school careers, entitling them to full waivers for the coming spring semester.
