On Nut – The Seahawks continued their winning ways over the past few days, scoring victories in TISAC league play on their home court.
On Tuesday, the Senior Girls hosted Keerapat International School. A nervous crowd saw their home team fall behind in the first half despite strong defensive efforts and numerous fast break opportunities. A dismal shooting percentage, combined with KPIS’ one-man show, led to a score of 13-15 at the break.
The Lady Seahawks settled down in the second half, quickly overtaking their visitors and stretching the lead to 23-16 by the end of the 3rd quarter, and finishing off the game with a strong 14-point 4th quarter performance to end the game victorious, 37-27. Leading the way for the Seahawks were point guards Nivan Narula, grade 11, with 10 points and Ping “Kieren” Wu Yeh, grade 12, with 8 points.
In a much more competitive match-up, the U11 Seahawks hosted Rasami International School on Thursday afternoon. Strong defensive efforts by both teams resulted in a low-scoring start, with Wells trailing 3-5 at the end of the 1st quarter. More defense, combined with rushed shooting, led to the score being knotted up at just 9-9 by the break.
In the second half, the quick hands of Oscar, grade 4, lead to numerous steals followed by fast breaks and “easy” layups. Despite this, Wells was only able to muster up an additional 11 points. However, this proved to be just enough as the Seahawks held on for a 20-17 win. Leading scorer for the Seahawks was Tristan, grade 5, with 9 points.
