December 5, marks the day the people of Thailand celebrate former King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s birthday. He was born on December 5th 1927 in the United State of America. King Bhumibol Adulyadej captured the hearts of the Thai people through his devotion to improving the welfare and well-being of his subjects. This day is now celebrated as Father’s Day across Thailand as the former King is regarded as the father of the nation. On this day the Thai people usually give a flower named dok Puta-ruksa to their fathers and grandfathers on this day. Many people also wear yellow, which is the king’s color.
Together here at Wells Thonglo we stand not only to recognize our fathers- I would like to encourage all of us to appreciate our families. Many of us have been blessed with extended families like grandparents, uncles, aunties, cousins who love us dearly and have filled our lives with so much happiness and love that has helped us shape our lives with positivity and passion for being lifelong learners!
Thank you to our teachers too for being positive role models for us too!
