Wells International School On Nut Campus had a Songkran Festival Celebration on April 5th 2019, from 8:00 – 8:40 a.m. and invited the school community to participate by providing promotional materials, such as event posters and emails.
The Songkran Festival Celebration consisted of 4 performances. Firstly, there was a Thai Instrumental performance of “Kang Kao Gin Glua” and “Rum Wong Wan Songkran.” Following this, there was a Thai traditional game presented by students from Primary School (G3/4 Non-Native Thai class) called “Mon Sonpha.” The G10 Thai Native class also performed a dance routine to the song, “Oh La-Nor…My Love”, and the last performance was by the teachers, performing a traditional Thai dance called “Serng-kapor.” After these performances, the event concluded with the Water Ceremony “Rod Nam Khor Pon,” where representative students poured water on their teachers’ hands to receive blessings from elders for the Thai New Year.
The objective of this celebration was to demonstrate the importance of Thai culture and to encourage students’ appreciation of Thai heritage and traditions. After the celebration, feedback received from parents, teachers and students was positive as the event was educational, enjoyable and fostered collaboration within the Wells school community.
