On Nut – Four Wells teams were in action Thursday afternoon, all against TISAC rivals Bangkok Prep.
Starting off the afternoon were the U13 Boys playing on their home court. Both teams started slow, with the young Seahawks playing “keep away” along the perimeter, seemingly unwilling to make any move toward the basket. In contrast, at the other side of the court the boys from Prep were a wee bit more aggressive, forcing the ball to their big center. Still, neither team was very productive from the field. By the end of the first half, Prep scored just 11 to Wells 3.
The Seahawks surged later in the game, scoring 6 of their 9 points in the second half. Nonetheless, the much larger visitors were able to easily out-muscle the home team, 25-9.
However, the rest of the day belonged to the Seahawks.
For the second home game, it was raining 3s, with 3 of the first 4 field goals by Wells coming from behind the arc. Center – yes, center (!) – Joon Lee started the clinic with the first three-pointer. He was immediately joined by Kao “Jim” Chin and Yueh Ting “Kevin” Han. Kevin even completed a three-point play the old fashioned way, converting a foul shot following an easy layup. Harjas Anandsongvit, who established himself as the long-range bomber in previous games, joined in on the fun with a pair of his own later in the game. In all, the Seahawks drained five three-pointers for the day.
The final results of the game were never really in question, despite the Seahawks going deep into their bench to play virtually all members of the team. Even with a quick 6 points in the last 20 seconds of the game, the visiting team was down much too far. Wells went on to win 55-29.
For the second consecutive game, Jim and Kevin shared the Seahawk leading scorer position with an impressive 19 points apiece. Harjas followed with 10 points.
Just a few kilometers down the road, the U13 and U15 Girls paid a visit to the Bangkok Prep campus, where defense was the name of the game.
Both games were very low-scoring, with the Lady Seahawks eking out wins by scores of 11-10 in the U13’s game, and 21-16 in the U15’s game.
All Seahawk teams will take a off for nearly two weeks due to the mid-term break. The action returns on Thursday, October 29, with the U11 team taking on Keerapat International School, and the Senior Girls and Senior Boys go talon-to-talon against the Eagles of ASB.
