In Thai culture, a teacher is in a position of high honor. Thus, Teacher Appreciation Day (วันครู) is an important day in Thailand to celebrate and show appreciation and respect to educators.
We celebrated Teacher’s Day at Wells International School on January 17th, 2022. The students at Wells International wanted to show their teachers how much they appreciate them. The students at all levels decided to pamper the teachers with gifts and cards, made thank-you cards and posters, and surprised the teachers with flowers and garlands. The individual classes even had a chance to take some photos outside the classroom.
Teachers are often expected to wear many hats, such as coach, parent, entertainer, nurse, etc., but the thank you cards and signs of appreciation make it all worth it. Days like this remind us, as teachers, why we decided to take on this profession.
The teachers at Wells International School are excited to be back at school. They have been hard at work planning for our return to school, teaching exciting lessons, and supporting the students. The teachers have been working extra hard to ensure our students’ safety with clean classes and learning areas and well-being with the return to school. Celebrating this day together has marked a new chapter after online learning and has brought us all closer together as a community.
