Sophomore Gunita Anandsongvit leads all scorers in 29-4 rout!
On Nut – The Wells International School Lady Seahawks started off their 2009 campaign with a bang, demolishing the visiting Lions from Bangkok Christian International School (BCIS) by a score of 29-4. Despite a slow start, Wells’ suffocating defense held BCIS scoreless for more than three quarters – the Lions first points coming midway through the final quarter, when the game was already far beyond their reach. Sophomore Gunita Anandsongvit was the steadiest performer, scoring in each quarter to amass a game-high 9 points, followed by Seniors Amp with 8 points and Kieren Yeh with 5 points.
In other games of the day, the Under 11s team was unable to use height to its advantage as the shorter, but much quicker, Lions took control of the game early and beat the young Seahawks 30-12. And in the later game held at BCIS, the Wells Senior Boys found out why the Lions are the defending TISAC Champions. Despite a strong effort by point guards Boss (gr 10) and Jim (9), the Seahawks succumbed to their experienced opponents 50-19.
Today, the first week of the season continues with the Under 13 and Under 15 Boys heading to BCIS, while the Under 13 and Under 15 Girls play at home. Games at both sites begin at 3:00pm.
